skye

this is my gorgeous little girl, skye! she was born on july 17 2021, and she's an extra-special edition as she was born without most of her front left paw; she has one little toe bone and tiny little nubs of toe beans, but that's it! it doesn't bother her atall - she's used to mostly hopping around on 3 legs and still uses it on softer surfaces and when she's in turbo mode. despite being a whippet, she only has a prey-drive for flies, wasps, and anything that generally buzzes around. she's a fluffy venus fly trap.

me + skye at talacre beach

skye came to our family in a less-than-traditional way; a regular customer at the pub where my mum worked went to buy a whippet puppy, and came out with two, as upon asking what had happened to skye's paw the breeder had mentioned having her put down (despite it not impeding her or her health in anyway). he objected to this, so the breeder let him take her free-of-charge. a few months down the line the customer was looking to rehome skye due to her constantly fighting with her sister, and my mum having fallen in love with skye at first sight, jumped at the opportunity.

my gorgeous mum suddenly passed away in march 2024; i won't go into details but after a long ordeal, my mum's little girl finally came to her final home: with me and my partner. she's adapted to our lives amazingly - she hadn't ever been home alone before coming to us! - and is the most affectionate, sweet-natured, clever, cuddly and comical dog in the world. i love her more than life itself and she is even more precious to me, as having her feels like there is still a small part of my mum living alongside me every day.

believe it or not, the first image is her 'so so excited to see you' face. teeth.

oscar

oscar is my childhood dog, a border terrier, and he was born on may 24th 2007, making him very nearly 18 at the time of me writing this! my parents eventually caved into us getting a dog after my incessant beggings, and oscar ignited a love for dogs in both of their hearts. he still lives with my dad and stepmum and enjoys retirement with them, eating lots of steak and slowly patrolling their beautiful garden. he is completely deaf now, has a bionic knee and generally is just a stiff old man, but otherwise is amazingly healthy for his age. being deaf also doesn't stop him from using his nose to smell when next door's dog is outside to start a barking match with.
